724 Virginia -4.5 (-110) Westgate vs 723 Michigan St.
double-dime bet
Analysis:I'm laying the points with Virginia on Sunday. I had Michigan State & Virginia on Friday and we had to settle for a split. While the Spartans have played much better basketball over the last few weeks, (sans OT v. Wisconsin), I just don't believe they matchup well with a Cavaliers' team that will clamp down on the defensive end and force the Spartans into making mistakes. Virginia's Justin Anderson looked healthy in the win over Belmont, an important note because he gives the team three double-digit scorers. And besides their outstanding play on the defensive end, the Cavs can match MSU at one of the Spartans' strengths - rebounding. Virginia is the MUCH better free throw shooting team and they have a little revenge on their mind after losing 61-59 to the Spartans in the East Regional Semis in last year's Dance. UVa came within a bucket, despite shooting just 35 percent from the field. This year's Cavaliers nail over 46 percent of their FGA and I expect better results. Virginia has been outstanding against good teams, those playing between .600 & .800 basketball, covering 16 of 23, while averaging 68 ppg and allowing just 60 ppg. They're also 11-3 ATS when playing with less than two days of rest or no rest between games, winning by an average score of 68-56. I'm laying the points with Virginia, my Early Slam Dunk.
