Is there a more exciting city than Las Vegas? You can never be bored in Vegas that's for sure. Well I have a funny story from the weekend here in Vegas. I head down to the Bellagio on Saturday to place my wagers on the Elite 8 Games and to play poker while I watch the Games. I'm going to be meeting RJ Bell and Vegas Runner later for dinner so I'm there early to play some cards. The Missouri/Connecticut game just ends and my phone starts ringing I see it's VR and I'm going to answer the phone but the dealer is just starting to deal out the next hand. I answer the phone as I'm waving to the dealer not to deal me in but the dealer doesn't see me and deals me in anyway so I peek at my cards as I'm starting to get up from the table and what do I have but pocket Aces. Now I sit back down and raise knowing that anyone who was paying attention knows I must have a big hand and I'm not going to get paid off here. Somehow 2 people call, I tell VR to hold on as I set the phone down to play. On the flop nothing 9 high I lead out like I'm making a continuation bet just like I would if I had AK preflop and Both players call the bet. On the turn I step up the Bet betting 2/3 of the pot. One guy folds the other guy calls. On the river comes a King and I figure the guy is going to be done with the hand if he is putting me on AK but I throw out a value bet of $100 on the River. Guy is taking forever to decide and VR is still waiting on the phone when I get a bright idea I pick up the phone and tell VR you still there hold on I'm about to win a Big Hand.... The guy looks right at me and calls the bet as he thought I was trying to get him to fold by saying I had a Big Hand on the Phone. The guy just shook his head as I turned over the Pocket Aces... VR gets the phone assist....You got to Love Vegas!!
Nice job Marco!
The true adventure was Marco at the buffet! Remember, you can follow Marco play by play (and spoonful by spoonful) at twitter.com/MarcoInVegas
I'm not sure what the sicker part was...Marco, putting the phone on the table to play the hand...or me getting a "Rush" listening to what's going on around him...I was yelling "Ship It" as loud as I could, hoping to piss someone off ...so Marco can get Paid Off for his bullets...
You could hear the Chips and Pauses from other players as they were deciding to call of fold...And when I heard Chips hit the pot twice...I felt like I was holding the Aces, and even though I had Animal Crackers in front of me at the time, instead of chips...I subconsciously felt myself Pushing ALL IN...
Damn I love this city...It was built for people just like us !!
This was the best post of the day, truth be told! Really great stuff my friends!
THAT WAS GREAT STUFF.....THANKS FOR SHARING
VR and his magic touch
Glazed animal crackers I hope lol
I wish I could get the "Eye in the Sky" tape, just to see Marco's reaction throughout the hand...Because if you don't pick up a "Tell" on him in this spot...It'll never happen...lol
Loon, to answer your question...No Sir, VR is as Old School as they come...and I prefer the Original Animal Crackers that come in those little boxes...
In fact, my wife brought home a big ass bag of them...where you get so much more, but they make the cookies smaller and the shapes aren't close to as good as the box ones are...And I had to ask her to send them over to my little niece, because they just weren't the same...
Marco will tell you, one of the shelves in our pantry is filled with those little boxes of Animal Crackers...It's a freaking addiction or maybe it's just cause when I was a kid, my mom wouldn't buy them expensive ones and we'd end up with the generic version...So maybe I'm just trying to bury those horrific memories of "fugazi" animal crackers that I was given as a kid...VR
