Hey guys -
Really need a day of less work - I'm starting to feel a little burnout with the hours of writing I've been doing every single day of the NBA season. Last night's two brutal losses have left me a little tired and cranky to be perfectly honest.
And given that we had our lowest viewership of the blog in about 3 months, this seems like as good a time as any...
So, we'll see how this blog goes, but if it gets very little attention, I might take 1-2 days off from writing the blog, just while people are completely inundated with CBB.
I don't mean to sound selfish, so I hope it doesn't come off that way, but writing these things takes multiple hours every night, and if folks aren't really going to be reading it while the NCAA Tournament is going, I could really use a little time with the lady and friends, especially since sports betting is YEAR ROUND, and if we can ever find a day or two to relax, it's important to take it.
I'll be around most of the day, so I can certainly answer questions, but I can feel that sensation in my gut telling me not to push it, so the next few days I'll be in the forum about 75% as much as usual, trying to enjoy some NCAA action on TV, and making my NBA plays for my long term guys!!
FREE CARD TODAY!
thumbs up
Haha, thanks man, I think you know what I'm talking about though with the potential for burnout.
This is an every day job, and I LOVE it, but sometimes I just need to give my eyes a rest.
I'm sure a good night of rest will cure what ails me, and I'll DEFINITELY have a FREE PLAY tomorrow, as we try to make an offering to the gambling gods to get this BAD LUCK back up out of our hood!
spend some time with the lady and friends, man. we understand. you're the hardest working man in this bidness.
Dan - A day or two out of the starting lineup will be best. I'm feeling some "Injured Star" Theory coming to the fore over the next couple.
Hahahaha, well said Warwick!
I'm not going to disappear - I don't want that to be how my statement is interpreted, it's just that sometimes, as I'm sure you all know, you need a few extra minutes to chill out, and with all the stuff I was doing in LA, my buddy's wedding, doing blogs and podcasts at 6am, sleeping from 6 to 10am and feeling like I got run over, it's just not how I do my best work.
As G just noted in an email, perhaps the BEST choice is to just be more judicious with my resources.
For instance, I didn't much care for a few games on this 11-card Friday, so maybe just say that and keep going. Save time here and there, but at the same time I always feel like I want to write a paragraph to show you guys WHY I don't like a game at all - I've goneback and forth with that in my mind many times.
Bottom line, if there's a day without a blog, don't freak out - I'm still here, just maybe needed those 2-3 hours of furious typing and crafting my notes into prose and trying to make sure all my night-before-leans are as accurate as possible would be better spent just relaxing and making sure my mind is clear for the next day's TOP PLAY selection.
WHATEVER the case, there are a few games I was looking at on this Friday card, and tomorrow morning I'll sort the whole thing out!
I was just breaking down tomorrow's card and came across this early news:
PreGame.Com
Dan Bebe PG Questionable Weekend - Personal - 19/3/2010
I'll wait for line movement but it looks like a no-play at this stage.
Warwick
Alright guys, it's late - I stayed up late trying to clear my mind so I could sleep, but of course, now I stayed up too late to get a full night of rest.
Hahaha, I'm an idiot.
Night all!!!
HAHAHAHA!
I want to save and frame that.
Hey, I know the trainer personally - he says Dan has been upgraded to "probable"...
night man!
Dan, I was thinking about this ideal today, more or less on my behalf. However, I know how involved you are but there will be another game tomorrow. Life is about the relationships you develop not chasing the almighty dollar. This, sports gambling, is a part of life that is meant to be fun and enjoyable, but it is not always living. Life and living a concept easily skewed. Take a day or two with those that you love and are special to you. You'll enjoy it and they will appreciate your life's efforts all the more. It's a Win/Win buddy!!
Dan....you don't need to explain yourself buddy...just take a few days hols period...we'll be here when you are refreshed and ready to go. Us bloggers do that ourselves...we drop off for a few days at a time so why shouldn't you?
Just a quick report on day 3 at Cheltenham. My best day yet capped by the superlative performance of my ante post punt - Big Bucks in the World Hurdle - the horse is a machine.
Thank goodness it was a good day on the horses because I had a bit of a wake up on BB last night...I lost 2-1 on NBA . Lyk you Dan I crashed on Miami and Denva. For some reason I liked the under on Denva as I couln't see the Hornets scoring enuff so I got one back there. Little did I know thet the Nuggs would also stink. On CBB again I had a reverse and finished 1-2-1. It was my biggest loss overall for over 2 weeks. Money management could have been better for sure but I think we are all allowed one poor bit of judgement every now and then. As you remind us Dan the long term record is what counts and that is still very healthy so I am back on the horse and ready for the next day's action.
Dan,
For giving us a free play today I'll allow you take the weekend off. haha j/k. But seriously, it looks like we're all in agreement here...take the NCAA weekend off and get rested up and recharged. I'll be in Bebe withdrawal but I'll have the NCAA tourney to keep me occupied. Good luck to your Bears and I'll be rooting on my Buckeyes to take down the Gauchos tonight. Thanks for everything you share here in your blog Dan.
You deserve a break, Dan. This is probably the best time to do it. Spend some time with your fiance. Maybe do a few oxidation reductions. Haha only joking. We won't blame you! Thanks for the heads up. Have fun and relax this weekend.
Warwick: hilarious!!
Dan, Some R & R is always nice. You have had a pretty hectic few weeks with cross country jaunts and you still managed to stay very involved with the forum. A few personal days will help recharge ur batteries.
Love ur insight and analysis and thanks for the coaching.
Hahah, you guys are the BEST!
It wouldn't be a day or two off from handicapping - there will still be plays released, free or otherwise, but there might be a day or two off from blogging in there. Just wanted to make sure that distinction was set up.
We'll see how my schedule shakes out - I mean, if I end up at home with nothing to do, I'll definitely pump something out, even if it's only part of the card!!
