NBA - New York Knicks @ Golden State Warriors
I
confess that I watched the last game of the Knicks in Portland, as that
game was a big test for them. I mean, they had the most difficult
stretch of games that any team of this league could possibly had:
playing against Lakers, Cavs and Celtics in consecutive games. Then,
they went on the road to face a top team like the Blazers, who had lost
their last 2 games (the last one was a humiliating loss in Oklahoma
City) and of course that was a bounce back for them. The spot was awful
for the Knicks, but still they were competitive and almost won the
game, as only a late layup by Brandon Roy prevented the Knicks to win
the ballgame.
Naturally for this game I expect the Knicks to be fired up. The 0-4
record of the last 4 games doesn't mean they played bad basketball
lately, it was actually the opposite and in this game they have all the
conditions for a nice outright win for them. Note that this will be a
shootout contest, I have no doubts about that and the Knicks have some
powerful edges against the Warriors.
The Warriors are playing better lately with the return of Monta
Ellis and they come from a great win at home against the Jazz. In fact,
this is the second straight win at home for them as they previously
beat the Suns. However there is a huge difference for this team to be
home dog and home favorite. In the role of home dog, the Warriors are a
stellar 12-3 ATS mark, however being home favorites they are "only" 4-5
ATS so this is not a strong spot for them.
In my opinion, there is 3 different edges which the Knicks have
some advantage. First of all, their big man Andris Biedrins is out and
Nellie is playing the undersized Turiaf at the center position. This
could be a huge for the Knicks, as David Lee is playing great lately
and he comes for this game after going 10 for 15 from the field for 29
points and 11 rebounds. The second edge is the fact that offensively
the Knicks are floating right now when compared with the Warriors.
Monta Ellis is still trying to fit on the team and in some moments we
really don't know who is the PG of their team, if it's Monta Ellis or
Jamal Crawford. The last edge for the Knicks is the fact that lately
they are winning "run and gun" games. I remember that they beat the
Pacers on the road and also they beat the Suns at home. The Warriors
meanwhile is struggling when they are involved in close games. I
remember that they lost by one point against the Thunder, they lost by
one point against the Cavs and more recently they couldn't finish the
deal against the Spurs and lost in OT against them.
I expect the Knicks to win this shootout game as they need badly to
win and this is the right scenario for them to snap their current
losing streak. Take the Knicks in here.
