Hi Pregame community!
Now that football has ended, it's time to cash on hoops!
We are currently 11-0 on our last 11 NBA Side Selections!
Here are my previews for today's games:
Dallas @ Orlando
The Magic beat yesterday the Raptors in
a revenge game for them. This team is playing so well right now that I
can't even imagine myself to bet against them in this game. They beat
the Cavs in a great second half and then the Raptors on the road, the
fact this is a back to back game for them isn't a problem as not only
their game yesterday was an early game, but also this team is 5-0 ATS
L5 back to back games. The Mavs meanwhile had their best game of the
season in Miami where they shot a sizzling 60.3 % from the field and
Dirk Nowitzki and company once again revenged the upset suffered in the
finals a couple of years ago. They are 7-3 ATS as away dogs in this
season, however the last time they had in this situation they were
spanked in Boston by 100-124 and Orlando is playing so well?
Memphis @ Washington
This is a game between two
lowly teams and coincidently this is the consecutive game where the
Wizards face a team with a similar level to theirs. In the last game
the Wizards beat the Clippers by 106-94 and they showed that they don't
want to lose these kind of games. Jamison had a big night, but it was
some young guys like McGee or Nick Young who stepped up and helped the
veterans. The Grizzles meanwhile are 0-3 with the new head coach Lionel
Hollins. In their last game they were competitive against the Lakers in
the first half and in the previous foe they almost won at Oklahoma
City. Memphis is 4-15 ATS as a road underdog this season, but they are
improving fast lately. I think that a nice streak of ATS winners is
coming from the Grizzlies, all they need is to win a ballgame. For this
game the Wizards are favored by 6 points and honestly I can see both
teams winning in here.
LA Lakers @ NY Knicks
The Knicks are playing
their best basketball of the season: they are healthy, they're sharing
the ball and their bench is in a high note especially with Nate
Robinson. 6-1 L7games or 8-3 L11 games is a great record for them, but
this week will be to good to know if they can compete at the high level
because they will play against the Lakers, Cavs and the Celtics.
Meanwhile, the Lakers are coming from two good wins on the road, but
unfortunately center Andrew Bynum got injured last game and this can be
serious. He was playing stellar basketball lately with 5 consecutive
double doubles for 25.0 ppg and 13.8 rpg! Of course the Lakers aren't
so strong without him, but we cannot underrate this team just because
of this. Remember what the run they had in the last season when Pau
Gasol went to LA! This will be an excitant game with a lot of points.
Note that LA is 9-2 Over versus up-tempo teams averaging 83 or more
shots/game.
LA Clippers @Miami
The Heat after winning 3
consecutive games lost their last 2 games by playing poorly on the
defensive end. They allowed the Mavericks to shot above the 60% from
the field and already against the Pacers they allowed 114 points (66
points in the first half). They need to play better and it all starts
with their defense. Meanwhile, the Clippers showed an impressive lack
of effort in Washington by losing a winnable game against the Wizards.
They were outrebounded, outmuscled and committed a season high of 25
turnovers! The tricky question in here is to find out if the Clippers
are willing to play hard tonight, if not we already know that the
Wizards lost by 18 in Miami in the last week and the same thing may
happen today.
Portland @ New Orleans
The Hornets lost back to
back games against the Warriors and the Spurs and it is the fourth time
that this has happened to the Hornets this season. In the 3 previous
situations the Hornets won always the following game by going 2-0-1 ATS
and 3-0 Under in those contests. Tyson Chandler is still out for this
game and although David West returned in those two last games, he
didn't look sharp. They will face the red hot Blazers who are in a 4
game winning streak and 7-3 L10 games. They looked impressive against
the divisional rivals Jazz, but Utah aren't competitive against top
teams lately, so we must have careful to not overlook the Blazers in
here. The series is 2-1 for the Hornets right now, but if Greg Oden can
stay out of the foul trouble, the Blazers will have some edge on the
frontcourt because of the absence of Tyson Chandler.
Sacramento @ Phoenix
The Suns are struggling
lately and they are 3-7 L10. They ended the month with a negative
record and it was the first losing month in a long time for the
franchise. They lost back to back games at home and naturally we can
expect a big effort tonight. Note that the team staff and the players
had a meeting yesterday to discuss some things. Today the good news is
that they will face the Kings, who are a terrible road team, but they
finally snapped their losing streak yesterday by beating the Thunder. I
made a best bet on them based in the fact that two starters were out
(Beno Udrih and Brad Miller) and this wasn't bad news as both players
were playing poorly and the Kings had a team meeting in the previous
night just like the Suns had yesterday. 13.5 points is a big spread for
the Suns, taking in account that they are 6-15 ATS as home favorites
and 1-8 ATS while being favored by 8 points or more.
Charlotte @ Utah
The Jazz are in a bad mood right
now, as they are 3-7 L10 games and 1-5 L6 games! The absence of Andrei
Kirilenko is more important that anyone could realize. I mean they were
relatively competitive without Boozer, but now without Kirilenko as
well, this team can't buy a buck in the defensive end! In the last 10
games for just twice, they didn't allow their opponents to reach the
century mark points. The really bad news is that those opponents were
the Grizzlies and the Thunder! Today they will face the Bobcats who end
tonight their West Coast road trip. After a big win in LA, the Bobcats
lost consecutive contests in Portland and Denver by double digits
points and the absence of Gerald Wallace can't be ignored in here!
Larry Brown started Adam Morrison in the Gerald's place, but the team
performed so bad defensively that for tonight there is the possibility
that veteran Juan Howard will start tonight instead, sending Boris Diaw
for the SF position. I have a lean on Utah in this game, but the way
they are playing lately it seems to be too risky.
San Antonio @ Golden State
The Spurs start today
their annual rodeo road trip in a high note, as they won three
consecutive games against teams with winning records: Utah, Phoenix and
New Orleans. They are also 8-2 L10 games. Their offense is playing
great as in all of those contests they reached the 100 points mark and
this is a good sign because today they will face the Warriors. Golden
State had a huge letdown in Houston a day after upsetting the Hornets
on the road. Now they return at home and we can expect a great effort
from this team who always look fired up for these big games. Did you
notice that they are 21-8 ATS as home underdogs in the past 3 seasons
and already 9-3 this season? The amazing fact is that they are 6-0 L6
games in this spot and surely you remember some games like against
Celtics and the Cavs. However with the return of Monta Ellis, there is
a big problem on the PG position with Ellis and Crawford and no one
really knows who is the PG of the team. Both players ended the team's
last game with just one assist! The Warriors look like an appellative
underdog, but the Spurs can take some advantage from the PG problems of
the Warriors in today's game.
