SportingIntellect, thanks for the thoughts. Because of all the different ways we get plays in, there's not going to be any one right way to use SMC. The premise behind SMC is that books win when conditions are most lucrative. If conditions are met an hour before tipoff but eventually become unmet, then it's no longer a play as lucrative for books, no longer a genuine SMC play. Also, when looking at prior seasons, there's no way to tell what the conditions were 30 minutes before tipoff, only what the final conditions were. Bringing that into the equation now would no doubt present flaws.
What I like about SMC is that it truly is the people's system. Anyone can use it, and it doesn't change because of whims or gut feelings or expert-but-subjective opinions.
