I love how my fellow Packer fans are "Tired of losing in the playoffs every year." What a joke. I live in NJ and seriously, try being a Jets fan for a day. The heartache these fans endure year after year far exceeds anything we experience as cheeseheads, and I see and hear it daily throughout football season. They EXPECT to lose and just as it seems things may change, it doesn't, and they're left with more of the same pain and disappointment that they've grown so accustomed to. Even the Giants, who won Super Bowls in 2007 and 2011, haven't made the playoffs in 4 years. Ask a fan how happy they are.
I've been wearing my Packer gear every day since Saturday. All I've heard, in all honesty, even from strangers, is "What a great game they played Saturday." I myself wasn't even pissed after that game. As a fan, a true fan, I follow this team pretty closely and felt nothing but proud of those guys (including the coaches) for the heart they showed against arguably the best team in the league.
Drawing comparisons to the Patriots to me is boring. That team is an anomaly. No one is capable of achieving what they're able to and we all unwillingly need to accept it.
You guys wanna make changes, and big moves? Tell me, how is that working in Denver? With all that free agent talent, and a new coach, and a hall of fame qb, they're underdogs at home this weekend likely to lose.
Winning is difficult. Winning consistently as Green Bay has done since I've been a fan (since 1990) is pretty damn impressive. McCarthy may not be an ELITE coach, but he's gotten a lot out of a team that always seems to be dealing with adversity, and they never, ever quit. His team lost I believe 11 starters in 2010, and two in the Super Bowl. Result: Champs.
Ted Thompson has provided this organization year after year with new and exciting players that were picked in all different rounds of the draft. Honestly think about many solid players this team has drafted in the last 6/7 years. And free agents? I don't know if you watch games but I'm pretty sure Julius Peppers had a pretty good year. If you wanted them to get a speedy receiver when Jordy got hurt, my answer is most of us including Packers coaches thought Devante Adams would step up. He didn't. James Jones came in and caught 8 TDs. The leagues TOP TWO WRs Calvin Johnson and AJ Green had 9 and 10 respectively, so there. Ty Montgomery was starting to look pretty legit before he got hurt in week 8 or 9. I honestly don't know what they could've done at that point. In my opinion the Packers need speed at TE. Otherwise, I think Ted Thompson has put together a pretty talented group of players.
I'll take consistent winning, a couple Super Bowls and two HOF QBs in 25 years any day of the week.
Go Pack!
