As an amateur bettor back in Michigan in the 90's, I bet for entertainment and bragging rights more than any other factor. But the last year before I moved out to Vegas, 1997, I started taking it very seriously, knowing that if I could succeed, I could legitimately make a living betting on sports, with football as the #1 betting option. I had a great year betting, moved to Vegas the following summer, and the rest is history.
At this stage of my career, I'm a jaded veteran. I have action on at least something in the range of 355 or 360 days a year -- I'm not looking for action on some TV game if there's no good bet worth making on it. I have no team that I root for in any sport -- I'm not a fan, quite comfortable betting even against my alma mater, the Michigan Wolverines. My only goal is to make money, plain and simple.
Football is king. No other sport comes close when it comes to betting attention -- as a country, here in the US, we simply love betting on this sport. For any 'capper to be considered 'successful', they've got to show consistent profits betting and beating the NFL and college. That's what makes betting football 'special'. My favorite play in any football game is when the QB takes a knee to run out the clock and I get to cash a winning ticket.......
