I think we may have done this thread before, but...
Most of my earlier concerts were at the old Cap Center in Landover MD.
Bruce Springsteen (13 times from 1984-2009).
PRINCE. unfuckingbelievable. The guy was amazing. Pittsburgh 1998 and DC Musicology Tour in the round in 2004.
Bruce and Prince are the best of all time.... other great highlights:
Van Halen (1982 was incredible. 86 with Hagar was also good. And then around 2015 with Wolfie on bass, band was on fire but Dave was terrible)
Miles Davis w/ BB King opening. 2nd row, constitution hall in DC. Amazing.
Twenty-One Pilots (3 times, Baltimore, Columbus, DC). Great newer/current artist my kids turned me on to. It's another level when you start sharing these experiences with your kids... but now I'm as excited as they are about upcoming new album and tour).
Tom Petty, once in 1987 and then again around 2005. I really wish Petty and Prince were still around. I've listened to tons of Petty the last few years just a really solid catalog. And one of the alltime great live bands.
THE ROOTS, several times. They never disappoint and Black Thought is easily a Top 5 MC alltime.
Grateful Dead, several times.
U2. (1987, 1989, 2005)
KRS-ONE at the 930 Club I'm DC. Ain't nobody better than Kris.
JACK WHITE (one amazing show with his solo band on the Blunderbuss tour... and also with the Raconteurs at a small club show)
Summer 2023: LL Cool J with the Roots, Rakim, De La Soul, and Queen Latifah. Continuous show with Roots backing everyone. Insane. Rakim was the highlight, but LL's energy was impressive.
Honorable mentions:
Tool, Wilco, Pearl Jam, 1st Lollapalooza, Rolling Stones 1989, Billy Joel 1983, Santana, Rage Against the Machine w/ WuTang Clan, Phish at a small club before they broke big, and most recently Mammoth WVH fall 2023.
Wish I'd seen but didnt: Beastie Boys. Rush.
My dad saw the Beatles.
