There were 3,550 shooting incidents and 762 murders last year, a total that works out to an average of more than two murders and nearly 10 shootings every single day.
The trend has continued this year, with 51 murders and nearly 300 shooting victims in January, according to Chicago Police crime statistics.

Yeah DM.... it's troubling. Chicago is leading the way.
Chicago is in the same boat with Baltimore where Police Officers are under tremendous political pressure to stay off.
In Chicago the "police stops" has decreased by 80% (who wants to get into the Lose-Lose situation?) There is no surprise that crimes , mostly violent crimes, have skyrocketed.
Baltimore residents have complained that the PD has been taking a hands-off approach, and violent crimes spiked accordingly. The residents said they saw drug-dealings on every street corners, and armed gang members walking the street without any fear of being arrested. It's kind of funny that the residents do not want the Police presence, but no crime.
