But I think that's the problem. Personally, i think we take this "he didnt comply" thing a little too far. If a cop is going to bust into a home and a guy is like, "what's going on, here? Tell me what's going on. i'm genuinely confused" and the cop is like, "I don't have to tell you. I dont have to answer to you," I don't think that's what should be happening.
Like the guy who was choked to death. And people say he'd still be alive if he had just complied. He was selling untaxed cigarettes. He obviously didnt want to go to jail. Did he struggle? No. Did he try to fight? No. The cop tried to cuff him and the dude pulled his own hand away. Was he wrong? Sure. But is the reasonable next step to choke him to death? The cops performed an illegal chokehold to subdue him. Even when he said "I cant breathe," they continued to choke him out. And then he died. But instead of saying, "cops shouldnt illegally choke a guy to death from behind" we say, "the dude shouldnt have pulled his hand away, so he deserved to die." I'm not comfortable with that.
