The Aaron Hernandez scandal has had an effect on the Patriots odds, but only a modest effect.Pats were 7/1 to win the Super Bowl a few weeks ago – New England is now 8/1.A player of Hernandez caliber is on the borderline of having NO effect – but additional factors, including the scandal’s distraction for the team, plus thinness at tight end due to Gronkowski’s injury, results in a modest downgrade of the Patriots by Las Vegas.Current Super Bowl Favorites:San Francisco 49ers: 6/1Denver Broncos: 6/1Seattle Seahawks: 8/1New England Patriots: 8/1Green Bay Packers: 15/1Atlanta Falcons: 18/1Houston Texans: 18/1New Orleans Saints: 20/1FIRST TIME since 2003 the Patriots are not one of the TOP TWO Super Bowl favorites entering the season! You can bet on how many games the Patriots win during the 2013 regular season:Patriots current projection: Over/Under 11 wins

Game Lines (via LVH Superbook)
Week 1: Patriots were 7.5 point favorites at Bills - now down to 7.
Week 2: Patriots were 12 point favorites hosting Jets - now down to 10.
Note that the downgrade was even more significant for the Week One and Week Two lines, since Gronk is almost certainly also out for those games.
