Hey guys, wanted to start throwing some of my picks and analysis out there for the community. I've enjoyed reading other people's thoughts and opinions on this site over the last year or two, but haven't ever posted much. Hopefully, regardless of whether we agree on plays, there may be some piece of info we can pick up from each other.
Thursday:
Eagles -3.5 (1u) & Over 50(2u)
I've seen a couple people leaning under, thinking that Tomlin will try to establish the run and that Chip Kelly will follow suit. When asked if he planned to focus on one particular aspect of the offense Thursday, Tomlin said "I won't." I also don't think the Eagles will look to give McCoy a heavy workload Thursday. He's been dealing with a turf-toe issue that they say is fine, but, it's the pre-season. I doubt Kelly takes any chances with him. And, between the speed Philly runs their offense and all the additional penalties, there will be a few extra possessions in this game compared to most pre-season games.
I think Philly takes the game a little more seriously than Pittsburgh. I like what I've seen from Philly's offense (granted, against two weaker D's). And, when the backups come in, I'd rather have Sanchez and Barkley than Gradkowski and Landry Jones.
Friday
Jacksonville/Detroit Over 44.5 (2u)
Both of these defenses have solid interior D-Line play. Neither team will be able to run the ball effectively. Both teams will be forced to pass, and that's when the flags start flying. I don't love Detroit's QB depth, but I believe Stafford, Henne and Bortles will do enough that this one will be over sometime in the 3rd quarter.
Seattle/Chicago Over 45 (2u)
I think the Bears are one of 3 dead Over teams this year (along w Philly & Dallas). Chicago's offense will be above average. The second year under Trestman looks like it will be a great one for Cutler and Co. But their defense just isn't good.
Last week, Cutler played 2 series. A 3& out, and an 85 yd TD drive. Look for him to play at least the first half Friday, and look for that defense to get shredded by Wilson & Co. And once the starters come out, I'm confident Claussen, Palmer, Tavaris Jackson and T Prior can put up any additional points that are needed.
May add more for Friday if something sticks out. BOL all.
