Well, see my thinking is that once the Seahawks realized the patriots weren't going to call a timeout why wouldn't you tell Russell Wilson to audible into a running formation getting out of the shotgun look and simply hand it up the middle to marshawn lynch? That's what I'm wondering... I mean at some point as the clock was ticking the Seahawks had to have realized that the patriots weren't going to call a timeout, don't you think? If you audible into a run play from a run formation not a shot gun formation and get stuffed you could at least call a timeout with around maybe 15 seconds to go an essentially getting one more crack at scoring with BEAST MODE possibly even one more if you can execute the "hurry up" flawlessly. I mean it's all or nothing at that point why would you be thinking of 3rd & 4th downs and thinking that you could simply just "waste a play" as Pete Carroll said??? Basically after realizing the patriots were **** up by letting precious time go off the clock the Seahawks would've still have given the patriots practically no time to do anything.. Just makes no sense to me seemed like both coaches had no clue what to do in that situation. I don't understand why people are thinking the Seahawks automatically had 3 downs to score. the Seahawks could've managed it better after realizing the patriots weren't going to use any timeouts if you ask me.. I think it's very risky throwing the ball when your at the one yard line unless it's a fade rout since those are routes intended to either go outta bounds or to be placed where only your receiver can catch it. Also, why wouldn't they throw it to Chris Matthews the guy who was dominating for them? I mean he had a size advantage so why are you trying to throw it to Ricardo lockette, an undrafted free agent wide receiver??
It also infuriates me that Pete Carroll's excuse was that he thought he could just "waste a play" & that at that moment he was thinking ahead to 3rd and 4th downs already rather then focusing on the moment at hand.
If that pass is a touchdown or incomplete then bellichick would have left Tom Brady less then 20 seconds to get the team into field goal position but instead the patriots were rescued by an incredible interception.
