Hey gang,
After a 4 year hiatus I'm finally returning to the promised land with a trip to Vegas Nov 20-24. I used to really enjoy the vibe at the Stardust on CFB Saturdays from about 7 am to 9 am kickoff. The energy and electricity was just contagious and it provided me with the most enjoyable experience I've had to date in Vegas. I know I know - I need to try other things haha. Anyhow, I'm not looking to replicate that feel because I realize when Boyd put the Stardust on the chopping block they killed that forever (extends middle finger to Boyd). But is there anywhere in Vegas that provides *close* to the same feel? OK, if not close, what's the next best thing? I will be staying on the strip but willing to cab downtown (or off-strip) if what I'm looking for is happening there.
Second question in case no one knows what I'm asking - what's the best sportsbook to hang out in for a day on:
a. CFB Saturday
b. NFL Sunday
Some criteria that I consider positives for a sportsbook: good drink service (comp'd is best but not a required as I know the good old days are dead), sports jerseys and sketchy clientele, smoking allowed, no dj music please - sports audio only, friendly staff (including ticket guys at the counter), no metrosexuals in attendance who ask how USC is this year.
To give you an example of what I don't like: Caesars. Too big, poor service, too many popped collars. What I do like: the Mirage - prompt service, a little large but it's passable in size. I know both books are somewhat similar but there's a different "feel" to those books.
Thanks for all your help. I don't mean to be picky but since this is my first trip in a number of years I want to maximize my CFB and NFL experience. I'd love to hear Marco's take.
