Back in the day, Pregame used to have battles like this, it was called the King of the Hill. Starting February 4th, the first annual Battle of the Handicappers tournament will begin.
Do you have what it takes to win it all? A lot of people might be scared to participate, but you shouldn't. Winning is nice, but the whole objective is to have fun and contribute. Regardless how good a capper is, this tournament will show how bad runs happen and good runs happen. If you go on a bad run, it doesn't mean your not a great capper and not an asset to people here. It happens. Contributions and insight help the forum just as much as providing winning picks. Here are the rules and the prizes. This is a 24 person tournament.
**Registration is closed!**
Rules:
1. 5 picks per day for a week starting February 4th ending February 10th.
2. All plays must be posted within this thread and within the pregame pick section. This will verify accuracy on betting numbers. Your plays that are posted must match up to the same line that entered in the pick section. All plays posted can't be change and the first line you entered in the system will play.
3. If you miss a day, you will be counted as 0-5 on the day. If you don’t post your plays in the thread and it’s not in the pick section here at Pregame, it’s not valid. If you post your plays in the thread but not in the pick section, it’s not valid.
4. The best winning percentage moves on to the next round. If there is a tie, a one day pick off of 5 plays will be implemented.
5. You have to make 5 different picks on your card. You and your opponent may have some of the same picks. All picks have to be submitted and posted before the first play on your card begins.
6. All sports can be played, both sides and totals. Moneylines are only accepted for hockey but no line, whether totals, or moneyline can be greater than -130, puck line is not active. If you can't select the play in the make pick section at pregame, you can't make the play.
7. There will be 4 #1 seeds, this will be determined by how many posts you have accumulated in the forum. The rest of the field will be drawn for matchup pairings.
Between rounds, a 1 day grace period will be applied to rest and clear your head. The next round will start on Tuesday February 12- Monday the 18th. If we have more than 16 people sign up, it will go to a lottery. The top 4 posters that want to play automatically get the #1 seed.
Here are the prizes for participants:
1. Each winner of the first round will receive $50 Pregame dollars and a bag of Pregame swag. A bag of swag consists of a nice Pregame t-shirt, bottle opener, etc. Trust me guys, you wear that pregame shirt out, the ladies love it. Ladies that enter, im sure it has the same effect.
2. The people that win in the second round will receive an extra $100 Pregame dollars.
3. This will take us to the final 4, the winners here will receive $150 Pregame dollars.
4. The Champion will receive street credit on the forum and the #1 seed to the next annual Pregame Battle of the Handicappers tournament along with $200 Pregame dollars.
Thats a total of $500 Pregame dollars to the winner with a bag of swag! In addition to this, I will make a donation to two charities: The Shriners Hospital for Children and to the USO for our service men and woman.
*Also, if anyone has a chance to play DA_MOSS he has offered to provide to whoever knocks him out a nice little south Louisiana gift package. Thanks DA_MOSS!
**CBJFAN has offered to donate to the winner a little Columbus Bluejacket Merchandise if they want it! Hat/T-shirt combo and auto stick from Jacket Fan of Choice. Thanks CBJFAN!
***I will post and update the bracket on the front page after everyday with records. Also, prizes if changed will be verified with Johnny Detroit. He has the last say.
So my questions is this....who wants to battle, help each other, and have some fun? If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Adjustments can be made before the tournament begins if there is a overall consensus.
