You're partially right and partially wrong. Yes, if you DO fade the public for EVERY game, you will probably break even or be slightly down and not be all that profitable. But the same can be said for taking EVERY public pick (although I think you would go bust faster).
As for the 'square' sides that are heavily against the public, you have to admit just by looking back the last few years, they have been correct with the ugly dogs about half the time or slightly better.
Supposed 'square' sides should be used as a handicapping tool and not a handicapping crutch to lean on. I personally choose my sides early in the week and use my handicapping tools to determine which side has 'true' value or is just getting overhyped during the week for no real good reason.
Bottom line is that whether you're an old school capper or new, you should be constantly adjusting your approach to the games almost every week and not solely rely on current trends or public/square sides.
