Believe it or not, Canadian boxer (Tommy Burns-born Noah Brusso) was the world heavyweight champion commencing in 1906 with 11 title defenses. What was truly amazing was that he stood 5'7" tall and weighed in at a hefty 160 lbs. Due to his size, he was the underdog in most of his fights. He was the first boxer to give a black fighter a title shot. He lost that bout when the police stepped in to stop the fight in the 14th round.
He was finally inducted into the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame this week......long, long overdue!
