It is fight week and Max Hellerman Joins the show to discuss the Mayweather/ Pacquiao fight.
Max does come on about halfway through the audio.
Teddy and RJ had Las Vegas dreams. That's why they are out here. RJ states that this is a fight weekend that will be talked about 20 years from now.
Dave does state that unless your on an MGM property then you will have a tough time seeing the fight. There are people that paid big money for rooms and such that won't be able to see the fight. Vegas may be setting itself up for a backlash.
Teddy gets good info and his feeling that the way to go will be on the favorite here and that is the way he leans, but he also states that conspiracy theorists feel that yes this will be the one of the biggest fights ever, but a rematch would be even bigger and the way to do that is to have controversy.
RJ doesn't feel strongly that that would happen.
Max now joins the show and states that the line in the fight has moved to where it is supposed to be. He feels that it is right on and that the value in the fight may be gone.
RJ asks who the matchup favors, style wise? Max states that the better defensive fight should get the edge in a fight like this. Looking at some recent results it is Max's feeling that Mayweather is the bigger and more talented fighter.
Who does this fight benefit with the five year delay? Max states that normally if they are both slowing down then it favors the better puncher and that is Pacquiao. Still he states that Mayweather has the ability to match punches as well and it doesn't necessarily mean that Pacquiao has the edge here.
Boxing is on a down tick, so could this fight make the sport take a turn upward? Max isn't sure, but does state that when the sport has a big event like this it is bigger than the Superbowl. If both were on at the same time then many would be DVR-ing the Superbowl.
