Brady Kannon joins the show to break down this week's PGA event, the Northern Trust Open.
He starts off by saying the you don't have to be a big hitter to win this tournament. Looking at past history it really hasn't been the driver that has led to victory. Brady states that scrambling will be very important this week, much like last week at Pebble Beach. Riviera does have smaller green, plus playing on Cucula Grass will be different for some and may favor some South Africans. Also ball striking and accuracy will be key here.
Next they look at a couple of golfers. First is Bubba Watson, who is the defending champion and is 7-1 odds. Brady states that he has had a couple of nice starts this year, but also hasn't played a whole lot. This will be his first real test and it has been all or nothing as he has either finished in the top 20 or has missed the cut.
Hideki Matsuyama is 14-1 and may play the part of a sleeper. Brady says he is a good scrambler and putter, plus has good accuracy. 14-1 is a bit of a short price and he was 23rd here last year.
Bill Haas is at 22-1 and is the best in the business at getting out of the sand. He has had a good year and finished 23 here last year, but also has finished 3rd here and won this event as well. Brady feels that he could contend here and at 22-1m may be worth a shot.
Scott throw a longshot at Brady and that is Bernd Wiesberger, who is listed at 45-1 odds. Brady states that he may be worth plucking down a few dollars on as he is one of the hottest golfers around right now, but also states that he has done all his damage on the European tour so far and this will be his first tourney in the states and his very first time playing at Riviera.
On to a couple of matchups.
First is Russell Henley (Even) over Charles Howell.
The second is Charl Schwartzel -110 over Webb Simpson. Charl has played very well here, has the South African backround, plus he has a win at the Masters.
