Newcastle owner in a joking matter went on record saying current manager Alan Pardew has to win today at Stoke City or else he's gone.
Even though he was joking, I'm gambling there's still a bit of truth behind what he said. 5 games into the season, Newcastle hasn't won one game. Injuries and inconsistency at the back have been the main reasons why they haven't won one single game this season. Alan Pardew has won once in his last 13 epl attempts and today will be a go big or go home scenario. There is no looking back. He's got his big gun back in Papiss Cisse who was out 5 months before making his first appearance off the bench only to score 2 goals to help his team leave with a 2-2 draw against Hull City in their last league game.
Stoke City is known for their defense and their great form at home but so far this season, not so much. They haven't scored 1 goal and they've lost both their home games by the score of 0-1(Aston Villa and newly promoted Leicester City.) That's not good. Stoke City manager Mark Hughes's sense of urgency to kick an opponent like Newcastle while their down and to finally put in a decent goal scoring performance at home combined with the fact Newcastle's manager was basically given an ultimatum today to win or go home is good reasons to play the over here.
If it starts out bad for Pardew and Newcastle, expect them to get absolutely destroyed. Losing 2-0 as oppose to 4-0 doesn't mean much to a manager who knows he's on his way out. I do expect them to put in a fight though which is why somebody will leave this match victorious even if it's 1-1 late.
