Thanks for all your hard work Martin, as I have said many times before, you are my connection to the heart and soul of MMA. Because of the success I have had wagering (thanks to you)on MMA bouts, I have tried to adapt my boxing wagering philosophy to MMA. To put it simply, take a shot with the huge dog when two men step into the ring.
My motto is "lose little" or win big! That simple sentence has won me big $$$ in the past. For you naysayers, my first big win was Ali/Foreman using this strategy. It only paid 8-1 for my $300 wager back in the mid 70's. There are too many examples for me to cite them all, but I will share with you this...
The biggest cash of my gambling career (in boxing) occurred when Iron Mike Tyson got KO'ed by the journeyman Buster Douglas in Tokyo way back in 1990... back then, I had $$$ to burn, my friends and I had rented a suite @ the Courtyard Marriott in Torrance, California just to watch the bout. . I had taken a $500 flyer on the 40-1 underdog Buster D...
The sad thing is I never saw the KO. I didn't drink booze back then and midway through the bout I was out colder than Iron Mike from my 6-7 beers! I still collected a cool 20k which was a huge chunk of change back in the day...
Following my philosophy, here is my $100 wager on this weeks MMA bouts...
Martial Arts - 24301 Tarec Saffiedine +385 for Game
Martial Arts - 24322 Patrick Holohan -350 for Gam
I'm taking a huge favorite and a huge underdog in a parlay, more than likely I will lose my bet. The fact remains I might win! The truth is I will have fun either way and I suggest you all step back and assess why you place bets... I suggest you place your bets first to HAVE FUN! If you are sweating the outcome of any sporting event, you are in the wrong business.
'Just a thought from the sidelines...
