HOUSTON by 14 over Utsa -
This will be the inaugural gm at TDECU Stadium. LY was their first meeting. UTSA’s offense did roll up 493 yds as QB Soza hit 29-40-316. The game was tied 21-21 at the half and trailing 24-21 UTSA lined up for the game tying fg but it was blk’d and ret’d 78 yds for a td. UH dominated from there and had a 5-0 TO edge for the game (also 96-yd IR td) and rolled to an easy 59-28(-2) win. Expectations are high in ‘14 for both tms as they are two of the most exp’d tms in the country. UH returns 17 st’rs while UTSA returns 20 and has 19 Sr st’rs. UTSA has pulled outright upsets in both of their road openers while UH boasts an impressive 20-9 ATS mark as a HF and also a 19-8 ATS mark as a DD fav. One of the bigger mismatches favors the Cougs as their QB John O’Korn (28-10 ratio as true frosh) and one of the best WR units in the country led by AA cand Deontay Greenberry will be taking on a UTSA secondary that gave up a 20-8 ratio LY and all’d 341 pass yds (108 more than ssn avg) in LY’s gm. UH should be fired up for their new stadium and will come away with an impressive opening win.
