In Today's Big Conversation, Teddy, Dave and RJ take a look at if handicapping the academic schools in CFB is any different from handicapping the other schools.
Over the weekend sanction may be coming down on the the Fighting Irish, due to academic misconduct. The question then becomes do you approach handicapping theses academic differently.
Dave states that its interesting that last year academic schools such as Stanford, Duke, Vanderbilt and Rice were money makers in the betting world last year. He also states that if teams have a certain system in place then it is easier for academic schools to succeed.
Northwestern is another squad that deserves to be in that list, even though they did have a rough year last year. Still they have been a solid money maker over the last few years.
The best 4th quarter team in CFB last year was duke and it relates to their conditions and the fact that David Cutcliff is bringing in smart coachable players.
RJ's main take away is that the high academic schools play in a grinder type of way and thus those team are bet on too often by the public, which may lead to value on those teams.
The Academies are other teams to look at as they are very disciplined and will be a team that will compete for a full 60 minutes.
Comments are welcomed as always.
