Here are some thoughts about the match up.
1) Michigan certainly have the talents. Bad coaching was their downfall.
This season they have 16 returning starters. A QB loss, Devin Gardner, could easily be an upgrade.
2) J. Harbaugh is a great and proven HC at both CFB and NFL levels. He should have plenty of talents to work with.
3) Utah offense has been awful, and their OC left for a demotion to Tex A&M. How bad were they?
"Not only have Utah been out-gained each of the last 4 years, they have managed to out-gain only 15 of 50 opponents." They have had 8 OC in as many years. Talk about continuity.
4) Utah made great progress with their stout Defense. But their guru, Kalani Sitake one of the top Defensive Coordinators in the nation and has been with Utah the last 10 years, left for a lateral move. How big is the impact? Time will tell but it can't be an improvement.
There has been a huge conflict between the AD and coaching staff, and it certainly will affect their on-field performance this season.
