Another excellent night going 2-0 including an easy 3* winner on the Nationals and 1* underdog winner on the Mets. We are up 21 units since the start of the season and 12-4 last 16 plays! A large card tonight with potentially quite a few east coast games being delayed or postponed due to the weather they are supposed to be receiving this afternoon and into tonight. With our plays today we have stayed away from many of those games as the weather, unlike most sports, can have a huge impact on the side as well as the total play. We have 3 large plays tonight and one smaller play.
4* Home Run Play
Tampa Bay -106 Postponed
Tonight in Baltimore we have the Rays against the Orioles and two pitchers taking the mound who have struggled through their first couple starts of this young season. Both teams are sitting near .500 through the first couple weeks of the season as well. Tonight we believe there is great value on the Rays and starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi. The last time out Odorizzi was absolutely torched for 7 earned runs only getting through 5 innings and amassing 94 pitches. This is not the pitcher we saw in the first game of the season and we feel he will bounce back in a big way similar to the first outing of the season where he went 6 innings and no earned runs. On the other side we have Miguel Gonzalez who has been beat up Detroit and pitched well against the Yankees however the Rays have recently been destroying right handed pitching going 10-3 in road games. Additionally, the rays have also beat up on poor pitching as they are 7-3 vs a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. The Orioles on the other hand have really struggled against right handed pitching specifically at home where they are 3-7 in their last 10 home games. Gonzalez has beat up a poor teams but struggled against good teams as he is 0-6 last 6 starts vs teams with a .500 record or higher. We think the Rays will be able to beat up on Gonzalez and Odorizzi will pitch well and turn it over to one of the better bullpens in baseball.
3* Triple Plays
Cleveland vs Detroit over 8 Postponed
Tonight in Detroit we have McAllister vs Sanchez which based on their ERAs one would assume that the under would be the correct play tonight however both pitchers are coming off stunning performances only giving up 1 earned run between the two of them in their last starts. This is a let down spot for both pitchers after a very impressive performances. We are also getting a very low number in this contest because of their last appearance. We have two teams that hit the lights out of right handed pitching as the over is 6-0 in Indians last 6 vs right handed starter and the over is 8-2-2 in the Tigers last 12 home games vs a right handed starter. The Indians have beat up on poor pitching as the over is 7-3 in the last 10 games vs a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. Likewise, when McAllister plays against teams with a winning record he struggles as the over is 5-1-1 in McAllisters last 7 starts against a team with a winning record. Sanchez on the other hand also yields quite a few runs at home as the over is 5-0-3 in his last 8 home starts and when he is a favorite of -151 to -200 like he is tonight the over is 4-1. The icing on the cake is the winds are blowing out of the park at 13 MPH and we have a low humidity so the ball should be flying out of the park. We see at least 10 runs scored in this contest.
San Francisco -105 Winner
We have a National League West rivalry on the docket tonight in San Fran between the Dodgers and Giants. There is a lot of bad blood between these two clubs and I think it is safe to say they hate each other! On the mound tonight we have Beckett vs Lincecum. Both pitchers have looked terrible to start the season with both pitchers owning an ERA of 9.00 or above. The Dodgers have struggled on the road especially as a dog going 2-7 in their last 9 and Beckett is 0-4 as an underdog in his last 4. As we mentioned earlier Beckett was torched his last start and when Beckett is torched it messes with his head and the next time on the mound is not great as he is 0-4 in his last 4 after allowing more than 5 runs in his last start. The Giants have continually beaten up on right handed starters and this should continue as the Giants are 8-2 in their last 10 home games against right handed starters. Giants also beat up on battered pitchers going 8-3 in last 11 vs starters with a whip greater than 1.30. Lincecum seems to shine in NL West games against good teams as he is 7-1 in last 8 starts and 4-1 vs a team with a winning record. The icing on the cake is the Giants are 6-1 in Lincecum's last 7 starts vs the Dodgers!
