ST. LOUIS AT CINN.
Raisel Iglesias will make is Major League debut when he takes the mound for the Reds today. Iglesias was signed to a seven-year contract in June after pitching three seasons with Isla de la Juventud in one of Cuba's top baseball leagues, going 8-12 with a 3.47 ERA.
The Cardinals will counter with Carlos Martinez, who will make his first start of the season. The righty has appeared in one game this season, a one-inning scoreless stint on April 5 against the Cubs. The 23-year-old led the Cards with 21 strikeouts and 22 innings pitched during Spring Training. He is 2-1 with a 2.87 ERA career against the Reds.
A Cardinals victory would give them their 13th consecutive three-game series win, while the Reds will look to win their first three-game set against the Cards since July 2012.
I like going against pitcher's making their major league debut. Martinez has been sharp this spring and is worth laying the small price here.
