Plays for Monday night:
Cardinals ML This is a very interesting match up to me, as most will look at Adam Wainwright's overall numbers, and the fact that they lost 2 of 3 at home this weekend to the D'Backs, and dismiss the Cardinals entirely. But I like a couple of angles here. First, Adam Wainwright in his last 3 home starts is 2-0 with a 2.84 ERA, 1.11 WHIP with 3 BB's and 14 K's. More like the Adam Wainwright of old. Next, the Cubs are slumping offensively, having scored just 20 runs in their last 7 games. Third, the Cardinals are not slumping, as they've scored 36 runs in their last 7 games, and they are now the highest scoring team in the National League. Plus, I like the angle of the Cards at home against their old teammate, John Lackey. Lackey's home/away splits do not favor him outside of Wrigley Field so far this year. Bottom line here is that the Cards will get their whacks at Lackey. Can the Cards get enough pitching tonight? For at least one night, I say they can.
