I'd have to say that it was rough. You don't really know what you've got until the regular season starts, and there have been a few surprises. Before the season it was roundly suggested that the Phillies would be the worst team in baseball, yet they have taken 2 straight from the team that was judged pre-season to be the best, the Washington Nationals. Other surprises to the upside include Atlanta, Detroit and to a lesser degree, Kansas City. On the downside, the Washington Nationals have started slowly, as have the LA Dodgers. Who would have thought we'd ever see Clayton Kershaw sporting a 5.84 ERA?
Let's all remember that this is a 6 month season, not a 2 or 3 week season. All is not lost and over time the best teams will rise to the top. Let's also keep in mind that the "experts" are not always right, and there will be some surprises. At the same time, it will take us 'cappers some time to settle in and get our bearings on this baseball season. My hope is to keep myself afloat in April and May and make hay in June, July, & August. It's a marathon, a grind. Definitely not a sprint. So, keep the nose to the grindstone, keep smiling, and you'll get 'em!
