Aaron Bruski joins the show to grade last night's NBA Draft.
Knick fans had a rough year and it's not going to get any better anytime soon. Last night they took Kristaps Porzingis with their first pick in the draft and many in New York are not happy about that. He is a player that the Knicks will have to spend time developing and that is not time that they have right now. If Scott were running the Knicks he would not have taken him. He is not a great fit for the Knicks.
Aaron felt that it was a tough spot to draft for the Knicks, but he feels that Phil Jackson knows this team won't contend anytime soon so he is building for the future. He does come highly rated from most of Aaron's sources. The Knicks went with Jerian Grant later in the draft and both Scott and Aaron like that pick.
DeAngelo Russell went 2nd to the Lakers over Okafor and Aaron feels that they really wanted him. Aaron also states that Okafor should have gone before Russell. The Lakers may feel that the Kobe run is over and finding his replacement was paramount. Scott see Russell as a good point guard and you have to have that to win in the West. Aaron states that Okafor has defensive weaknesses and doesn't have the ability to go outside, which may be a reason that the Lakers passed on him.
Karl-Anthony Towns did go first in the draft to Minnesota, which many thought would happen. Minnesota has acquired some good talent the last few years and Aaron does like the makeup of this team. They may not contend for a title this year, but could be in the playoffs.
Who may have been the best player taken in the 2nd round? To be honest Aaron states that no one really jumped off the page at him in round 2.
Who may have had the best draft? Miami had a very good pick in Justin Winslow at number 10, whole Aaron feels that OKC also had a very good pick with Cameron Payne at #14. He really likes that pick.
He felt the Kings had a very good draft as well and Scott is impressed with it as well. Aaron feels they have the makings of a solid team this coming year.
One team that Scott felt had a flop in the draft is Atlanta, who needed a rim protector and didn't go out and get one. Aaron agrees and states that Atlanta had a very confusing draft for him. Taking Hardaway over Grant was puzzling.
UNLV's Rashad Vaughn went at #18 to Milwaukee and Aaron feels that the move to take him is saying that they are looking to win now.
Where will Lamarcus Aldridge go? The Spurs seem to be the favorite to land him and if they get him they will be very tough next year.
Dekker to Houston? Aaron does like the pick and sees no issues with their draft overall.
