A potential NBA Finals Match-Up takes place in Cleveland on Thursday night as the NBA leading Golden State Warriors continue their eastern road trip with a visit to the Q.
The Cavaliers have won three straight since the All Star break and are 14-2 SU in their last 16 contests. But looking deeper into their schedule, they have only played 5 teams with a record above over .500 in their last 16 games. Golden State will prove to be a much tougher test than they have faced in recent weeks.
The first meeting can basically be discarded since LeBron James didn’t play. The Warriors won a comfortable 112-94 decision on the 9th January 2015. Golden State enjoyed a 36-3 edge in fast-break points and managed to rack up assists on 35 of its 43 field goals, dominating the Cavs defense.
Golden State has won 21 of 26 and is 16-3 vs. the Eastern Conference this campaign. They’re on the third leg of their longest road stretch of the season and will leave for Toronto after this one ends. The trip ends with a Sunday-Monday back-to-back in Boston and Brooklyn, so this will be the first of four games in five nights.
In my view, this is a great opportunity for the ‘Splash Brothers’ to challenge LeBron in Cleveland, with a chance to prove who the better team is. The Warriors lost at Indiana on Sunday with Steph Curry on the bench resting a sore ankle, but he dropped 32 points on the Wizards in a 114-107 win at Washington on Tuesday. Klay Thompson is also feeling the hot hand, scoring 56 points in his last two games.
I like the road team in this one, especially grabbing the 3.5 points.
