Am seriously feeling old today. For the record I'm only 55, not the relic many think. I just got started in sports at a very early age. Why does today feel so different? All Star games carry a special, very special memory for yours truly. It was in 1966 that the Cardinals hosted the All Star game and I was in attendance with my late father. I was 7 years old and walking into the new Busch Stadium was like walking into a great cathedral. I had already begun listening to the games on the radio with Harry Carey and Jack Buck calling the action. I was already getting the Sporting News on a daily basis and could recite line ups and averages like a machine. My teachers in grade school would shake their heads. I struggled terribly at pretty much all school tasks but could recite the batting order of the San Francisco Giants. Anyway, it was a close game and hot as hell that day. I still have that all star game program and have kept it in plastic in mint condition. The mere thought that it was 48 years ago makes me want to puke. I've seen a lot of all star games and a lot of memorable moments. Pete Rose barreling over Ray Fosse comes to mind, the blast Reggie Jackson slammed in 1971 in Detroit, and the same with Bo Jackson. Some of these games are turkeys but some a compelling. I have mixed feelings on the thing deciding home field in the Series.
Now, I do have an opinion on the total tonight and I am thinking over 7.5. I know the under is the direction most are heading but not me. I like over. Mainly I want a close game, the last one run affair came back in 09 in St Louis when the AL prevailed 4-3. I also hope Jeter does something good tonight as he makes his final appearance in one of these showcases.
On the business side I am biding my time boys. I am knee deep in football homework and reaching out to those I stay in contact with. I don't claim to have a endless wealth of sources but lets just say what I do have is good as gold. I'll just leave it at that. Last year was very solid and I see no reason this year won't be as well. The packages should be back on sale pretty soon. I go over all the football stuff on my pro page.
Okay, that is it for today. Many thanks as always and best of luck with your action. I know there have been a lot, and I mean a lot of changes around here but the fastest way to get passed up in life is to stand still and RJ is not the type to do that. He is going to continue to evolve Pregame and keep it ahead of the curve. Trust me on that. Take care fellas.
