Well had been away for awhile. Ventured out to southern california to meet my new granddaughter. Great trip in all accounts. Satisfied my craving for a giant pastrami and corned beef sandwich at Nate n Al's. Go there every time. Ate like a champ at Casa Vega mexican. Had a good steak at the Napa Valley Grill. If you cannot tell I like to eat, a lot. Also went to the most insane movie theater I've ever set foot in, the Ipic theater in Westwood. Recliner seats, full menu, waiters who will bring you anything from grilled cheese sandwiches to lobster rolls or pizza. Real food too. Plus a great bar area in the lobby if you want to enjoy a cocktail before or after the movie. Just a good time. Can't wait to go back Won't be long. Kind of a crazy time right now because my second to oldest daughter is also about to give birth, basically any day now. I am blessed.
Most of the talk centered this morning at the diner around political issues and I made a vow not to go there in this thread. There are other places on the site for that. But the Blues did fire Hitchcock and that was not expected at the start of the season. Hopes were high for the Blues and for whatever reason they are underachieving. Better team than they have shown. The Cardinals got their wrist more than slapped by baseball over the hacking issue with the Astros. As they should have. I am a Cards fan to the end but there has to be consequences when something like that occurs.
A few of my buddies are back from the Cardinals fantasy camp and the stories are epic. My buddy Bo struck out Tom Lawless on a knuckleball of all things. Sounds like he had a lot of ex players waving at that thing. I've played enough catch with him to know that thing is no joke. They said Brian Jordan still looks like he could play in either the major leagues or NFL still. Good time had by all. It's on my bucket list.
I personally liked Brent Musberger and will miss his calls. Remember his spots with Jimmy the Greek on the NFL today show back in the day. Classic. And it was big news when he and Jimmy got into a fight at a bar when the Greek had a few too many pops and started running his mouth. Funny thing is you could always tell listening to him he had action on the game and it did not take a rocket scientist to figure out which side he needed. Whenever he was in Columbia here doing a game he always made sure to eat shakespeares pizza. He would order a masterpiece and often mention it on the air. Great pizza and it was a nice plug for the joint. Heard he was moving to Vegas, sounds about right. Wish him well. Would love to have a beer and talk with that man. Stories would be epic.
That was about it for today. Good luck to everybody tonight.
