Snowy morning here in mid missouri. Beautiful day but personally I prefer summer.
Shocking development last night as the Mizzou Tigers dropped their league opener at home to LSU. To be perfectly honest I just could not even bring myself to look in. Just too depressing. It has reached the point where my reaction when watching this team play is identical to that I experience when those commercials air appealing to people for money to help animal abuse. You know, where the dogs are shivering and scared to death and looking at you with the sad eyes. I have a tough time watching those without flipping the channel. I am an admitted animal lover. I grew up in a hunting family. I grew up hunting enough to last two lifetimes. Deer, Rabbits, Quail or squirrels on my uncles farms. Did it all and was a damn good shot. But somewhere in my high school years I just said the hell with it. My heart was just not into it. I drew down on a big buck finally one morning at my uncles farm and simply could not pull the trigger again. That was honestly the last time I ever hunted. Good grief, I rambling.
Aside from the topic of Mizzou hoops which basically amounted to 45 seconds of muttering, moaning and muffled curse words the primary topic this morning at the diner was the Giants players taking off to Miami for their day off. Some pictures were taken, (what a shock) of the guys sunning and funning on some guys boat and of course some people accused them of not being responsible enough. Hmmm, my opinion was this. Was it their day off or not? Were they instructed to enjoy their day off but just not too much? I think it is much to do about crap. Of course if they had shown up at practice up chucking all over the field and unable to have a productive practice that would be a different story. My opinion is the media is always starved for a story, any story and will take something like this and run with it. I think folks who are really upset over this might be a little too uptight and maybe in need of a day off themselves. Or too old to remember what it was like to be young. Thank god I still remember.
That was honestly about it for this morning. Have a great day guys. If you ever come to Columbia you have to go to the Broadway diner and order a stretch. Trust me on this one.
