Residing in mid missouri I am subjected to Chiefs fans non stop. Not that big a deal as they are actually my second team behind the Packers. But listening to the crowing this morning at breakfast made it hard to digest my biscuits and gravy. (almost). Yes, it was a great comeback. And no, did not bother me as my big play yesterday was the Chargers plus the 7. I assured some friends watching the game they do not kick the extra point in that spot. So good for the Chiefs. The fact is in the prior three home openers at Arrowhead they had been blown out by a combined 66 points. So I was not stunned when the Chargers jumped all over them at the outset. Frankly it is my opinion had Keenan Allen not gotten injured the Chargers would have still won the game. But, it's over and the Chiefs broke the home opener dry spell. It was just glorious watching NFL football again sunday, no, not the watered down preseason stuff. The real deal. Some great games. NFL is king, plain and simple. For all it's issues it still rules.
I was at the Missouri game with friends saturday night and they played their best game in a long time. Andrew Lock had far and away his career game to this point. If ever a 61-21 game was closer than the score indicated this was it. I really liked the Eagles chances and they do have a solid club. Missouri made some big plays and just broke it open. But Eastern Michigan is much better than that score would indicate and Missouri is no juggernaut. But, with that being said after the dumpster fire that last season was some celebrating was good medicine. Mizzou has Georgia coming to town saturday night and I expect a helluva game.
Sad to see that Brandon Watson, the young DB for Army was killed in a car wreck after playing in the game against Rice on saturday. God it is tragic when these things happen. By all accounts a fine young man. Such a waste.
That was it for table talk this morning with the exception of some political stuff and I swore I would not go there on these posts and I am sticking to it.
I was put in a lousy spot for this upcoming weekend. Georgia is coming in for a big game saturday night and my wife and I have an obligation to be in Kansas City attending a wedding. Ouch. It SUCKS. I know what the right thing to do is and I will do it. But damn. If any of you have ever been in a spot like that you know what I mean. This is not setting well at all. But like I said, I know what the right thing to do is.
