I want to once again stress this is a non political zone. Plenty of other places around here to voice your concerns, outrage, etc. I also want to once again stress this thread has absolutely nothing to do with me promoting anything. Whatsoever. I generally meet with some close buddies every day for either breakfast or lunch and we do what most guys do. Talk about sports, among other things but I am determined to keep this thread away from an X rating.
Les Miles needs to lighten up, at least that is the general opinion in our group. His LSU club will travel to Wisconsin to take on the Badgers at historic Lambeau field. Of course being college kids the idea of playing on that field made many of them think about fulfilling a dream and doing the Lambeau leap. Apparently Miles has told his squad any player who goes through with it can hitch hike home. Really Les? Give it a rest, same with the NCAA, they can take their no celebration rule and stick it up their asses. This has the potential to be a memory for some kid they will have forever. Give me a break.
Everybody around town here in Columbia is very hyped about the game saturday at West Virginia. The team, from what I can observe is relishing the role of underdog. Nobody is giving this group much of a prayer. I've said it before and will say it again, from what I have seen this is a better team than last year. It all hinges on the O line. I have little worries about the defense. And Charles Harris is an absolute beast on defense. Just saying.
Really lousy break with the Vikings losing Bridgewater. An injury like that is just so tough for a team to absorb. I think back to the Packers when Rogers went down, or just last season when the Cowboys lost Romo. (again). Minnesota is still a sound, well coached team. They will still be a contender. But losing Bridgewater was a sock in the balls.
Opening weekend of college ball always is hyped but this year there are some legit marquee match ups. Good to see. Although in college football any loss is huge for the major players looking to make the playoff it is much better to lose now than later. Folks need to keep in mind these kids have not had the luxury of four preseason games as the teams in the league have. There will be some head turning scores this weekend.
That was about it for today. Frankly some slightly hung over mugs today. Our softball team clinched the league title last night and the beers did flow. But nothing a plate of biscuits and gravy with a healthy dose of Tabasco could not help. Not cure but help.
Good luck today with your action guys.
