One of the greatest baseball players to ever lace up the cleats hit a home run from both sides of the plate on this date back in 1956. It was actually the third time he did it. If you've ever played the game you can appreciate what the guy did. I am talking about the great Mickey Mantle. Mantle was a world class ball player both at the plate and in the outfield. He could do it all. He was also a world class party guy. He was convinced he was going to die at a young age like his dad Mutt and decided to live it up while he could. And he did. Later towards the end he put out his famous quote that had he known he was going to live so long he would have taken better care of himself. I saw Mantle play in person once in the 60's when I was a kid. My dad took me to a Yankees and A's game in Kansas City. I still have that yearbook I bought that day as a matter of fact. Mantle was towards the end of his career and his knees were shot. It was painful watching him try to run. He played first base that day. Much the same as when I saw Willie Mays play at St Louis towards the end of his career. He went up to bat against Bob Gibson and he was just totally over matched. Both should have hung it up a little earlier than they did. I can say that today when I watch MIke Trout play he does remind me of Mantle. Built about the same and both can hit and field and run like the wind.
Okay, a free winner. Tonight I suggest a play on the over in the Thunder and Warriors game. Last game the Warriors got cold in the fourth quarter and suddenly the dynamic duo of Curry and Thompson could not find the bottom of the basket. Have a tough time seeing that again. Yup, high number and the under looks appealing to most. I'm not buying it. I say this game tonight goes over the total.
On the business side I cashed last night with the Raptors and Cavaliers game with a Double Star and have my NBA Playoff Triple game of the week tipping tonight.
Many thanks and best of luck tonight guys.
