Couple of things were discussed heavily this morning at breakfast, First of all the abysmal showing by our Cardinals on opening day. We all know there are 161 games left and nothing to freak out about. But I believe they struck out ten times. The offense looked really bad yesterday. Francisco Liriano can do that to people. Hopefully next time out tomorrow they can shake those bats some. The Royals beat the Mets, again. Typical KC victory and Davis shut the door in the final frame despite getting squeezed some by blue. Great to see our local guy Carl Edwards come through with another strong showing sunday. He is in the top five in points and the season is off to good start. Carl, once you have met and spent some time with him, is a impossible guy not to root for. He is as sincere and nice a guy as you will ever come across. He's living his dream. We all remember when he was just a kid running around here in mid missouri tearing up the dirt tracks. Even back then he kept telling anyone within listening distance that he was going to race in NASCAR someday. Hard not to respect a guy who attacked his dream like he did. That kid printed up business cards simply stating Carl Edwards, race car driver and cold called his ass off. He bugged the hell out of everyone just begging for a shot. Finally Jack Roush gave in and gave him a shot in the truck series to begin with and the rest is history. Always nice to see good things happening for good people. And Carl is every bit of that. He is one helluva better driver than he is a softball player though I can tell you that, lol.
Lot of guys were shocked at how Oklahoma got rolled saturday. Including yours truly. Everything just snow balled on them. Tough way for Kruger and his club to conclude what was a good year for the program.
One final note regarded the remarks from Scottie Pippen this weekend. Pippen was asked about Golden State and how the Bulls teams he was on would have fared against him. Of course Pippen let his ego get in the way in rational thinking. He announced that the Bulls would have swept the Warriors and of course he would have guarded Curry and held him to under twenty points. Nice to see Pippen's ego is still nice and healthy. I do recall once when he refused to go back into a game at crunch time because he was pouting that the ball wasn't going through him. Poor baby. Cannot say I was shocked at his response to the question. Confidence is a beautiful thing, being delusional, well not so much. Just my opinion but my friends agreed. I am certain there are Bulls fans out there that will side with him on it. As fans I guess they should. I am not a fan of either team particularly, just am impartial observer. I think to say the Bulls would sweep the Warriors is insane.
Anyway, that was about it for this morning. If anyone has a thought or alternative view feel free to chime in. Best of luck to everyone tonight and enjoy the big title game. Should be a classic.
