Lively talk at breakfast this morning as the final four and baseball are all looming this weekend. Around here most folks seem to be pulling for the Sooner's. Lon Kruger is an extremely popular coach and it is hard not to like Buddy. Syracuse is the decidedly big dog. The fan in me would love to see them just go ahead and take the whole thing. Not likely but it I assure you it is not impossible. I told my buddies I had seen one person refer to their comeback victory over Virginia as lucky and it was good for a laugh. Proof everyone see's things differently, I'll just leave it at that. I well recall when Villanova played Georgetown for the title and nobody gave them a prayer. It was in 1985 and the Hoyas looked like the obvious winner. Well we all know what happened. And you can never discount what Jim Valvano and his NC State club pulled off.
Lot of confidence from the local fans of both the Cardinals and Royals. For years around here the Royals were pretty much an after thought. Oh, there were some KC fans in this region of the state. I knew both of them, lol. But with two straight world series appearances and one title in hand nobody can disrespect the Kansas City Royals now. As for the Cardinals. Well, year after year after year they just keep winning. They are consistently good. Might be one of the most consistent and solid organizations in all of sports. They lost some key pieces and yes, it sucked seeing Heyward and Lackey both go to the rival Cubs. But the fans confidence in the Cardinals organization is always high. It is impossible to argue with their results, year in and year out. The St Louis Cardinals find a way. I was telling the guys that with baseball the remarks can be kind of amusing. You will see a team, like say the Cardinals steam rolling to another winning season, but they can lose some obscure game in the middle of the season on a tuesday night for example and some person will inevitably post, the Cardinals suck. Well no, actually they don't. Take a look in the mirror Einstein. But it does always feel like spring is in the air when locally we turn on the radio and hear Mike Shannon calling Cardinals baseball.
Final subject at the table was D'Angelo Russell. My take is it was a stupid move, duh! It is indeed mind blowing what goes through some folks minds. What kind of mind even thinks that way? But, to try and give him some lee way here the fact is he is still young. Young people say and do some pretty dumb things. I'm not proud of some of the stunts I pulled. Hell, we went mattress riding on top of cars. But most the stupid things we did were actions and not words or devious things like that. I guess he has owned up to it and apologized to his team. Maybe it will take, maybe not. Only time will tell. The kid screwed up. It happens. Some learn from their mistakes and grow from it as people. Some are just too stubborn or ignorant and just keep digging themselves deeper, (Johnny Manziel). Time will tell with Russell.
That was pretty much it over the breakfast this morning. If anyone has their own thoughts feel free to bring it to the table. Just keep politics out of it. I just are and don't need the indigestion of politics.
