Two items jumped off the page and as I often remark, the length of time that has passed boggles my mind. One not so much but the other a resounding yes. Both date me drastically. Laugh all you want, it will happen with you too. If you're fortunate. First of all I can recall sitting in the family room watching football with my dad on this date back in 1968, I was ten. The Jets and Raiders were playing and we were watching Joe Namath apparently lead the Jets to a big road win. All of a sudden NBC cut away from the action and suddenly the movie Heidi appeared on the screen. My dad uttered some words that drew the wrath from my mom making dinner in the kitchen and snickers from me. Then as luck would have it, the Raiders staged a dramatic comeback that only those in the stadium could see and actually won the game in a thriller 43-32. All the while football fans all over the country were screaming **** murder and flooding the network with phone calls. It's been forever tagged the Heidi game. And yes, I remember it well. Now, the other moment in history is a sad one. It was on this date back in 1991, Richard Mayfield and I were at the Mirage in Vegas for a football weekend and we were in the sports book watching the games. Mike Utley of the Lions went down in a game against the Rams and ended up with a spinal injury that left him paraylized from his chest down. Sad, sad deal. It is truly a wonder this sort of thing does not occur more often when you really think about it.
Okay, a free winner. Today I am suggesting a small wager on Baylor this saturday as they host Oklahoma State. Those of you who had my Double Star saturday on Texas against Gundy's Cowboys saw a team that seems to be playing out the string. Something is not right with that team right now, on and off the field. I think they are walking into a beat down in Waco. Baylor is playing for high stakes and I look for a public execution here for Art Briles Bears. Big number, but not big enough. Baylor rolls in my opinion.
On the business side it was a good weekend as we swept the Triples in both college with Missouri and the NFL on the resurgent Kansas City Chiefs. Also had the featured release cash easily as mentioned with Texas over Oklahoma State. We are up 17.9 units in football. I am already working hard on this weekend and there are some nice possibilities looming. I want to thank those who have come on board for the college basketball discounted offer. We hit on 58% of the games last season after a total of 261 games. We ended up +48 units profit. This offer provides every single release including the Triples clear through March Madness. I can tell you there is one NFL game coming up that has as much appeal to me as any all season to date. I have now cashed in on a documented 30 of the last 38 NFL Triples over the last two seasons, 78% winners for us. I will make my final decision and get it up and loaded as soon as possible.
Thanks as always and best of luck this week. Good luck to those playing the monday night football game. I looked hard at it and it just looks like a mutt to me. Nothing I personally want to bet on. If I won't bet it I am not going to suggest anyone else do so.
