Chi Ballers at 43-12 has the lead with 6 weeks to play.
Briefcase at 41-14 looks to need a large Briefecase soon.
General Tso at 40-14 is right there.
Seven others are at 38-17.
With around 1500 competitors, and only 30 making the money, many are having a fine year at around 60% ATS, but are seemingly oblivious to the fact they are about to get "blinded out" with the structure only paying the top 30, (3%), it is going to take a sky high win rate just to get in the money. Most poker tournaments pay the top 10%, and I think in the future the SuperContest should consider a policy that 60% ATS gets you your money back in the prize structure.
On a local radio show, a host was quoted as saying "60% ATS YTD puts you right where you want to be". The truth is that 60% is no good at all.........and those 60% pickers are going to be drawing dead soon, with their only hope to finish strong to somehow crack the top 30.
Thus, the big difference in these tournaments vs. Poker. If you have a chip and a chair, you can win a poker tournament. The equity you have is pretty proportional to your chips once you get past the top 10% bubble. However, in sports, the chip leaders have MASSIVE edges......it's good to be a Chicago Baller right now, if he goes just 15-15 into the clubhouse he is going to get one nice paycheck.
