Very special sports moment jumped off the page this morning guys. Very special! It was on this date clear back in 1971 that the great Bob Gibson of the Cardinals fired a no hitter at the old Forbes Field in Pittsburgh against the Pirates. And that Buc's club was loaded to the gills let me tell you. Roberto Clemente, Willie Stargell, Al Oliver, Big Bob Robertson, Richie Hebner. That club went on to capture the World Series that year knocking off the Orioles in seven games. I remember talking with Marco when I was out at the home office and he was shocked when I reeled off the Pirates lineup. Anyway, that night Gibson tossed his gem my family and I had just arrived that day in Branson for a family vacation. I was out by the pool that night listening to the game as always, Jack Buck and Mike Shannon. It was getting around the fifth frame when my dad came down and checked for an update. I told him Gibson had not allowed a hit yet but it was still early on. He sat down and we listened together. Then obviously it became more and more serious as the innings stretched on and Gibson kept mowing them down. Finally came the bottom half of the ninth and he nailed it down. At that point there were about 20+ people around my radio listening in. When Buck called out it was over it was bedlam and people started throwing each other in the pool. It was just a special time for a 13 year old boy and his pop. Dad has been gone now since 1999 and memories like this just grow more special with each passing year. I remember as a small boy sitting around the parking lot with dad and his teammates after playing softball. Guys, if you still have your old man, don't take him for granted. There will come a day when you would give anything to sit down and talk with him.
Okay, a free play for today. Been on a nice little run with the freebies and tonight I am suggesting a play on the Marlins as they play host to the Diamondbacks. On the business side the early bird NFL Packages are still up I see. I honestly don't know how long this will be the case. I know many regulars on the forum have heard all this but bear in mind there are many through here every day who are new and visiting for the first time. Here is the deal, the package is priced at $549. If you are a light bettor then obviously a year long service is likely not practical. Hell, I get that. But if you have struggled in the past to have success wagering the NFL and would like to try something different this time around I honestly feel I can help the cause. Last season in the NFL I released a total of 153 games. I won 92 of them, 60% winners. I realize that is not as impressive as some of the numbers touted at some other sites but I have one distinct advantage going for me, my numbers are all real. My top rated Triple Stars went 20-4, 83% winners. My Rabid Dogs went 8-4, 66% winners. I concluded the season up 60 units. And please keep in mind this offer does not end with the regular season, it runs clear through the super bowl and I've now hit on 16 of the last 18 NFL playoff Triple Stars. I don't do the lock thing and I only have one NFL regular season game of the year and one playoff game of the year. I use those types of tags the way they should be properly used in my own opinion. Anyway, there it is. If you want to go it alone then I sincerely do wish you all the best. If you are seriously considering a new attack this fall then hopefully you will give this some consideration. Pregame has assembled many top drawer handicappers to choose from.
That's it for today guys. Best of luck with your action and enjoy the games!
