The Major League Baseball season continues this evening with a game between the Cleveland Guardians and the Houston Astros. The game is scheduled for a 8:10 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on MLB.tv. Currently the MLB odds for the game have the Astros listed as the home favorite to pick up the win.
MLB Odds
Houston -130
Total: O 9 runs (-104), U 9 runs (-116)
Both of the first two games in this series went into extra innings, so I thought about potentially playing the over here. Both bullpens have been putting in the work here and Cleveland has now played in four consecutive extra inning games. Certainly that has to play somewhat of a role here tonight as the Guardians give the ball to Logan Allen.
Expect Cleveland to ride him as far as they can tonight. Allen (3-1, 5-46 ERA) has only thrown at least six innings once this year and has yet to eclipse 93 pitches in any of his six starts. I think that can be a positive for the Astros tonight.
Spencer Arrighetti has not been good for Houston this year, he's 0-3 with a 10.97 ERA in three starts. He's yet to throw more than four innings in any game this year but the Astros are going to have to get a good start out of him.
Houston has been awful all year, it's certainly a surprise. With only 10 wins on the year, it would be easy to take Cleveland here as the better team (20 wins) at plus money against the youngster Arrighetti. But I'll take Houston here as the home team looking to turn things around for the better.
