Wyoming Cowboys vs Texas State Bobcats Start Time, Odds

College football on Saturday and we will see the Wyoming Cowboys travel to the lone Star State to take on the Texas State Bobcats. The start time is 7:00 pm (Eastern) and the game will be televised on the Longhorn Network. Current Odds have Wyoming listed as 12 point favorites, while the total sits at 57.

Analysis: What a start to the year for the Cowboys. They nearly knocked off Nebraska in their opener and have since won 3 in row, while outscoring their opponents by a 133-40 count. A Big reason for this is QB Brett Smith, who has completed 68.6% of his passes for 1315 yards, with 13 Tds and just 3 INTs. Very nice indeed. In the game vs Air Force last week he was nearly unstoppable, accounting for 511 yards of total offense in the 56-23 win. Smith completed a personal-high of 85.4 percent of his passes (35-of-41) for 373 yards and four touchdowns, his pass efficiency rating topping out at a staggering 193.98. As a result of Smith's exploits, the Cowboy check in at 8th in the nation in total offense (556 ypg) and 13th in passing offense (330.5 ypg) while putting up 41.8 ppg. Mixed results on the defensive side. The Pokes are 89th overall and 113th vs the run, but they are also 38th vs the pass and 35th in points allowed (19.2 ppg). Clearly a bend but don't break defense.

The Texas State Bobcats have started the year at 2-1, with their lone loss coming last week vs Texas Tech, 33-7. The two wins for the Bobcats were vs a weak Southern Miss squad and FCS foe Prairie View. Robert Lowe accounted for the squad's only points as he found the end zone on a 49-yard run. Lowe finished the outing with a game-high 103 rushing yards, although the team came up with just 107 net rushing yards on 37 attempts. Quarterbacks Tyler Arndt, Jordan Moore and Duke DeLancellotti combined to hit 15-of-31 passes for 133 yards in the loss. Despite the 2-1 start to the year, the Bobcats are still ranked 125th in the nation in pass defense and that is not a good number when getting ready to face Brett Smith and this offense. Overall they do allow just 17 ppg on the year, but I see that taking a massive hit in this one.

Pick: Really hard to go against the Pokes in this one. They are firing on all cylinders and Brent Smith is one of the hottest QB's in the nation right now. The Cowboy's passing offense that averages 330.5 ypg will be going up against a Bobcat pass defense that is dead last in the nation, allowing 331 ypg. Ouch. The Bobcats don't nearly have the Offense that will be able to keep pace in this game. Texas State is 118th in total offense, 115th in passing offense and 103rd in scoring at 19 ppg. Really a bad offense overall and we know that Wyoming will score plenty of points vs that bad pass defense. The Cowboys are 20-6 ATS in their last 26 road games, including 10-2 ATS in their last 12 road games vs a team with a winning home record. Wyoming by at least 17 in this one.
