WrestleMania XXVII Betting Odds

Yes. You read the title of this article correct. The betting world actually has odds on the WWE's WrestleMania XXVII from the Georgia Dome on Sunday April 3rd. The only thing that trumps professional wrestling in term of ratings on cable is "Jersey Show" (insert shaking head). More people tuned into Monday Night RAW last week over both the Arizona/Texas and Kansas/Illinois college basketball games. With billions of dollars being wagered on March Madness whether legal or illegal, I guess it makes perfect sense to take action on the highest rating show on cable television. So without further ado, here are the current betting odds for WrestleMania XXVII and notes on each match:

WWE - WrestleMania XXVII - World Heavyweight Championship Match
04/03/2011

101
102
Edge
Alberto Del Rio

+175
-245

Notes: Alberto Del Rio won the largest Royal Rumble in history and will take on 11-time World Champion Edge. Edge has headlined the past three Wrestlemanias and rumor is he is considering retirement, thus Del Rio is installed as a -245 favorite.

103
104
The Miz
John Cena

+700
-1500

Notes: After cashing in his Money in the Bank contract to take the title from Randy Orton, The Miz finds himself facing off against former 7-time World Champion John Cena. With the obvious feud with WWE legend "The Rock", you could make Cena -10,000 and he would still be the safe bet.
WWE - WrestleMania XXVII - No hold Barred Match

105
106
The Undertaker
Triple H

-2750
+1250

Notes: Ten years ago the Undertaker and Triple H faced off at Wrestlemania. Considering the Undertaker is now 18-0 lifetime at Wrestlemania, Triple H was obviously on the short end of the stick in their match at Wrestlemania X-Seven. Is there any angle you can see that makes sense killing a streak that has lasted eighteen years?
WWE - WrestleMania XXVII - Singles Match
04/03/2011
07:00 PM (EST)
107
108
Randy Orton
CM Punk

-155
+115

Notes: First off, raise your hand if you feel old that "Cowboy" Bob Orton's son is wrestling at Wrestlemania. This is one match that is pretty tough to call. We will take a small lean on underdog Nexus leader CM Punk. Randy Orton is an established star with a great theme song, so with the current push on Punk it would make not make sense to have him lose on the grandest stage.
04/03/2011
07:00 PM (EST)
109
110
Jerry Lawler
Michael Cole

-6000
+2000

Notes: The real story here is that the guest referee is "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Dating back to 2008 Lawler and Cole sat in the broadcast booth together calling the action. On Sunday April 3rd, the two face off with Jerry a huge favorite. Considering nothing says 3:16 like a "Stone Cold Stunner", do not be surprised if Lawler wins this one after Austin drops Cole allowing for the 1-2-3.

112
Rey Mysterio
Cody Rhodes

+140
-180

Notes: Have to love how the WWE involved Dusty Rhodes in this angle to get revenge for his son's broken nose at the hands of Rey Misterio. We are okay with laying the -180 on Rhodes because Rey Misterio is an entrenched figure that will always have a following based on his entertainment value over wins and losses.
WWE - WrestleMania XXVII - Six Person Mixed Tag Team Match
04/03/2011
07:00 PM (EST)
113
114
Trish Stratus, "Snooki", & John Morrison
Dolph Ziggler, Layla, & Michelle McCool

-1350
+650

Notes: Why is Vince McMahon probably one of the best marketing minds in history? There is only one show that has higher rating numbers over the WWE on cable. Since that show is the Jersey Show, Vince involved Snooki in an angle and puts her on Wrestlemania. Classic Vince. Even though it disgusts the wrestling fan in me, I have a sick feeling Snooki will be the one getting the pin fall in this one.
WWE - WrestleMania XXVII - United States Championship Match

115
116
Sheamus
Daniel Bryan

-380
+260

Notes: After a rough run, Sheamus captured the U.S. Title on Monday Night RAW on March 14th. With the Celtic Warrior back into the main storyline again, we can't see him getting dropped back down the food chain. Lay the number.

This is one of the weaker Wrestlemania cards in recent memory. The younger guns in the WWE have not reached the "Stone Cold", "The Rock" or even Triple H status for drawing power. We can't think of a past Wrestlemania that required so many past generation names to boost the cards credibility due to the current roster being so lackluster.  Miz is no Randy Savage. Del Rio is no Roddy Piper. Who the heck is Daniel Bryan? The bottom line is I will still fork over the car payment to watch WrestleMania XXVII on PPV. I am not going in expecting any Steamboat vs. Savage quality match via Wrestlemania III, but regardless of the line-up, Wrestlemania is still "The Grandaddy of Them All".
