|J. Tomlin, Indians
|K. Hendricks, Cubs
The Cubs can take a big step forward tonight with Kyle Hendricks on the mound. He's been solid during the playoffs in three starts, but was really strong his last time out in a victory over the Dodgers. For the season Hendricks finished with some excellent numbers and he was lights out in home starts during 2016, going 9-2 with a 1.32 ERA while holding opponents to a .201 average over better than 95 innings.
The Indians turn to Josh Tomlin, he's been a serviceable pitcher this season but his 4.40 ERA is not something Cleveland can be excited about heading into tonight's game. He made two playoff starts so far this post season and picked up wins in both of them, one each come against Boston and Toronto in the earlier rounds. Tomlin spent a good amount of time this season pitching on the road, he logged 94 innings away from home and had a 4.31 ERA covering that time.
Both teams combined to leave 21 runners on base in Game 2 back in Cleveland. The Cubs went on to win comfortably, but that game really could have gotten out of hand as Chicago looked to beat up on the Indians pen and earn the split needed to head back home.
Inside Wrigley Chicago was excellent all season, going 57-24. Hendricks has had a ton of success there all year and he should be able to continue that again tonight. In addition to that, Cleveland loses the designated hitter, which does put them at a disadvantage.
