World Series Game 2 Start Time St. Louis Cardinals at Boston Red Sox

Game 2 of the World Series takes place tonight between the St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox. The game is scheduled for an 8:07 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX. The odds for the game currently have the Red Sox favored to win.

Boston took advantage of some miscues by the Cardinals in the field last night to earn an 8-1 win. Jon Lester threw well and even earned himself some talk of cheating as it appears he was using some pine tar to get a better grip. Either way, it doesn't matter, the Red Sox won.

Current Odds

St Louis      +110
Boston        -120

Over/ Under: 7 O -120

The St. Louis Cardinal defense (3 Errors) really let them down in their 8-1 Game 1 loss to the Red Sox. They look to bounce back tonight, but may have to do so without Carlos Beltran, who left last night's game after injuring his ribs by robbing Ortiz of a grand slam. The Cardinal offense has been struggling as it it and will not get any better with the loss of Beltran. Getting the ball for the Cards tonight is rookie sensation Michael Wacha, who is 3-0 with an 0.43 ERA and 0.57 WHIP in the playoffs thus far. Wacha has given up only one run the entire postseason while striking out 22 batters and only walking four in his 21 innings. He hasn’t been quite as good on the road this year, but still has fantastic numbers away from home, going 2-0 with a 2.62 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in four starts.

The Red Sox are riding a nine-game World Series winning streak and showed no jitters while jumping on top early in Game 1. Boston is hoping to ride the momentum from game 1 and are also hoping to ride the bats from the middle of their lineup as Pedroia, Ortiz and Napoli combined to go 5-for-11 with 7 RBI and four runs in Game 1. Ortiz hit a two-run homer Wednesday, giving him four in 11 playoff games this season. John Lackey is always happy to pitch at Fenway Park where he has a 2.71 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 2013, garnering a 7-3 record (team 10-4). At home he has 83 strikeouts and 18 walks over 96.1 innings, and all season he has fanned 175 batters and walked 43 in 201.1 frames. Lackey has also historically been a quality postseason pitcher, with a 5-4 record, 3.10 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 16 career outings, 14 of which were starts.

Free Pick: Going with the Sox once again. The Cardinals offense has struggled in the playoffs this year, while Boston offense has been a bit better. The Sox do not want to give up their home field advantage so I look for them to go all out here. The Cards could be missing Beltran and Wacha just can't keep up his torrid pace. He is a rookie and could have some jitters tonight. Look for Boston to take that 2-0 lead tonight, behind another solid outing from Lackey and their offense.
