World Cup Quarterfinals Argentina vs Belgium Start Time, Odds

World Cup 2014 Odds: Argentina Big Favorite in Group F Betting

The World Cup continues Saturday when Argentina takes on Belgium in the quarterfinals. The match is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. (EST) start time and it will be televised nationally on ABC. Currently the odds for the match have Argentina listed as the favorites to reach the semifinals.

World Cup Odds

Argentina +110 +110 Ov +140
Belgium -130 +250 Un -160
Draw +225

Argentina and Belgium are both playing at a high level and the matchup today between these clubs certainly gives us something enjoyable to watch. Both Argentina and Belgium placed first overall in their group stages in this World Cup, each claiming nine points.

The contrasting styles between the clubs should make this a great one to watch. Argentina is running all over the pitch, booting the ball around and looking to score on just about every possession. Belgium, on the other hand, have been a very good defensive team in this World Cup, allowing only one goal to Algeria in the group stage. Belgium shut out both South Korea and Russia. The United States, who lost to Belgium in the knockout round, scored a tally in stoppage time.

In all four of those games, Belgium scored past the 70-minute mark, methodically defending before being able to turn on the switch and pick up wins. But remember how many saves United States goalie Tim Howard had to make against Belgium, who came out firing off all kinds of shots against the Americans.

Lionel Messi has been brilliant for Argentina. He's going to continue to pepper the net and set up his teammates. Belgium, who is an impressive defensive team, will have to come up with a solid gameplan to keep him from scoring. They'll certainly be under pressure from Messi and the attacking Argentines.

Worth noting is that Belgium is unbeaten in 21 straight games with goalie Thibaut Courtois in between the pipes.

The only thing that concerns us about Argentina is their back line as Belgium has a clear advantage on defense. Yet, Argentina goalie Sergio Romero has played well, but he's not the best goalie in the world, so stopping Belgium is going to be important. Belgium is going to look to get as many advantages and chances as they can. But in the end we like Argentina, who is just the better team.

Free Pick: Argentina 2, Belgium 1
