World Cup Odds: Colombia vs Uruguay

Projecting Colombia's World Cup Team in 2014

Colombia and Uruguay will meet up today in the knockout stage of the 2014 World Cup. Currently the World Cup Odds for the match have Colombia as a pretty solid favorite to win and advance.

World Cup Odds: Colombia vs Uruguay

Colombia -110 -110 Ov 2 -140 Ov +115 Un -135
Uruguay -110 +300 Un 2 +120 Ov ½ -145 Un ½ +125
Draw +230

Uruguay lost its best player when Luis Suarez went vampire in the team's last game and was caught again for biting an opponent. Hard to imagine a player of that talent and magnitude could mess up so bad for his country, but Suarez certainly did. Because of that, he was docked several matches and won't see the pitch again for Uruguay this World Cup. These two clubs have met once before in World Cup play, way back in 1962. They've also met twice recently during the CONMEBOL qualifiers with Uruguay winning a match 2-0 and Colombia picking up a 4-0 win as well.

Colombia looked very good in their group matches this season, winning three games and totaling nine points while out-scoring their opponents by seven goals. Greece was also able to sneak into the knockout round from the Group C with four points despite being out-scored by two goals.

Neither team is battling injuries coming into this match, but Colombia surely is feeling better about their chances. Uruguay is a solid futbol team but without their leader this is going to be a very tall task. Uruguay head coach Oscar Tabarez now has a problem on his hands and he might add another midfielder to help control the game away from his end of the field.

James Rodriguez and Juan Cuadrado have helped the Colombians score nine goals in three straight victories and have helped boost the Colombia confidence.

With all the bad press Uruguay is getting, and it's unfair the team is having to answer for Suarez, there's a lot of pressure on them. Because of that, and because Colombia has been playing very well to this point in the World Cup, we like the Colombians to win this one comfortably. Look for them to score a tally in each half. Colombia's strikers and offensive attack are going to be too much for Uruguay to handle.
