World Cup Knockout Stage Odds — France vs Nigeria

Breaking Down France's World Cup 2014 Group Stage Opponents

The World Cup continues today when France takes on Nigeria in the knockout stage. Both teams will be looking to advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament but the World Cup Knockout Stage Odds have France favored over Nigeria to win.

World Cup Knockout Stage Odds

France -1 -155 -225 Ov -120 Ov 2 +100 Un 2 -120
Nigeria +1 +135 +600 Un +100 Ov ½ -125 Un ½ +105
Draw +325

The French have looked very good from the opening minutes this World Cup. France picked up the top spot in Group E and will take on a Nigeria team that was second in Group F. France finished with seven points, having beaten Honduras and Switzerland, but drawing with Ecuador. but France has looked, at times, like the best overall team in the World Cup.

In this game today an early goal could prove to be a big difference for the French. They have tallied eight marks so far in the tournament, a considerable amount more than Nigeria's three goals.

Karim Benzema has been fantastic to date, scoring three times. He has helped infuse some confidence in this French squad that has the hopes of playing deep in the tournament. Their draw with Ecuador wasn't the worst thing in the world and probably won't bring this team to a halt, but not scoring at all might be a bit concerning for the French side.

Nigeria has looked pretty solid on the pitch as well, even in their loss to Argentina. Babatunde Michael has a broken arm, which could dampen the spirits, but the Nigerians believe in themselves and that's a huge part of playing well at this stage in the World Cup.

These clubs have met once on the pitch, a 2009 friendly that saw Nigeria win 1-0.

How focused will Nigeria be? There have been terror attacks in their home country and that might keep them from paying complete attention in Brazil. Frane will be looking to re-focus themselves in this match after scoring nothing at all in their last match. Expect them to get on the board first in this matchup.
